10/14/09 - Tigerfest is Once Again a Success...

Last week, my wife Vicky and I hosted the second annual Tigerfest. Tigerfest is a charity event held at the Martin Inn in support of Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society. We were extremely pleased by the support that the Clemson community showed for our cause. This year we had close to 500 people in attendance for our event which featured a dinner, live and silent auctions, live music and of course the 2009-2010 Clemson Tiger men’s basketball team. Although we are still crunching numbers, we estimate that we raised over $125,000 at this year’s Tigerfest. My wife and I are extremely pleased with this number as it has greatly surpassed our expectations and our total of $100,000 which we raised in 2008. Later this year we will be able to present a very significant check to Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society to help in the battle against cancer.

There were so many people who worked extremely hard to make our event a success. I especially want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Dalton of Blue Ridge Security and Electric for their very generous donation of $20,000 to Tigerfest. I also want to recognize Susan Ruark, Anne Koutoufas, Keshana Ham and everyone else who volunteered their time and money for the fight against cancer. This event once again proves that the people of Clemson are willing to come together for a great cause. We hope that with your help we can make next year’s Tigerfest even better!

Go Tigers!
