8/24/09 - Beginning The Climb...

After a very productive summer the school year has finally arrived. I always get excited when I arrive at the office only to see that the entire student body is back on campus! Last week we had our first official team meeting of the school year. After laying down some basic guidelines and setting our academic schedules, we spoke about beginning the climb. Each season is a journey, or a climb, if you will. Although our program has been climbing at an astounding rate over the last six years, it is now time for this group of Tigers to begin their climb.

The journey will begin in the classroom, in the weight room and on the court. Our student-athletes will strive to take our program to new heights. Throughout this climb we will constantly preach to our team to enjoy the journey. Take advantage of each day and take pride and pleasure in the hard work that we put in. The hard work begins this week as we will begin individual workouts and weight lifting. The individual workouts will consist of skill work and player development.

In the weight room our Tigers will be in the hands of our new Strength and Conditioning Coach Preston Greene. Preston is a Clemson graduate who brings years of experience and expertise to our program. We feel fortunate to have him on our staff. His impact will be felt immediately as our players will work closely with him to become bigger, stronger and faster. We are excited to continue to improve and to once again begin our climb to success!

Go Tigers!
